The Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) is a community partnership collectively dedicated to a multidisciplinary approach of professionals pursuing the truth in child abuse investigations. Professionals from child welfare, law enforcement, prosecution, victim advocacy agencies, and the medical and mental health communities collaborate to investigate cases of suspected sexual and serious physical abuse. The CAC is designed to be a welcoming, safe place for children to be heard while protected from further victimization.
What Are Children’s Advocacy Centers?
Children’s Advocacy Centers are trauma-sensitive, child-friendly organizations providing services for children and families impacted by sexual or physical abuse. Rather than multiple professionals interviewing children in detail regarding abuse allegations, the CAC model brings a multidisciplinary team of professionals together to work collaboratively in a child-centered approach.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Children’s Advocacy Center is to coordinate a timely, comprehensive, and multidisciplinary response to child sexual abuse and serious physical abuse allegations in a safe, agency-neutral, child-focused setting.
